Managing Run Tasks

Completing Jobs In The Driver App

Delivery jobs on a Driver Run are organised into jobs for each step of the movement, with  Collection, Check in and Delivery tasks.

Typically, each consignment has two tasks on the Run, e.g. a Collection task for picking up freight from the Sender, and a Check-in task for checking it in to a freight hub.

The Driver App's bulk mode supports efficient completion of tasks where there are multiple consignment movements from the same Sender or to the same Receiver, by automtically grouping the consignments into one task.

This article provides a detailed guide for drivers and warehouse teams on completing tasks with the Driver App.

Individual Tasks

Run task actions for individual consignments (those not grouped into a bulk task) can be accessed directly from the Task list, or from the Task details page.

Consignment freight labels and reference numbers can also be used to find a consignment and complete its next task.

This section details the steps for managing tasks with each of these methods.

From the Task list

Task action buttons on individual tasks are accessible in the task list in the Next tab.

  • Tap the Collect/Deliver/Check In button to navigate directly to the task confirmation page.
  • Here, you can view any Notes related to the consignment or its sending/receiving site, check the freight details are accurate, and perform additional actions. Items requiring attention may be highlighted in red.

In this example, a photo of the freight is added before it is loaded on the delivery truck.

  • Select the file type, and tap Take Photo to capture a photo directly in the app, or Add Files to upload from the device gallery.
  • When the relevant files are attached, tap OK to return to the confirmation page.
  • Tap Confirm Collection/Check In/Delivery to complete the task. The completed date and time is recorded automatically.

Scanning and Manual entry

A consignment can be searched from any tab on the Run page, by scanning a freight label or entering the reference number manually.

These functions can be used to find a consignment that is already on a Run (e.g., to save scrolling through a long list of consignments) or to allocate a new consignment to the Run.

  • Tap the + button on the Run page. Select Scan to scan the square data matrix code on the freight label:

  • Alternatively, tap Manual entry to type in the consignment reference, then tap Search.
  • If the scanned consignment is already allocated to the current Run, the job will open directly on the next task's Confirm page. The View Consignment button on this page allows the full details page to be opened if required:

  • If the consignment was not already allocated to the Run, the user is prompted to Add and Collect. Depending on the system settings, there may be an additional prompt to select the next destination (i.e. the consignment should be checked in to the relevant Hub, or delivered to the Receiver) before confirming the collection:
  • Complete the relevant task, including any additional required actions. When complete, tap the Confirm button.
ℹ️ If a consignment includes multiple freight items, only one of the labels needs to be scanned to find the job. It is important to carefully check that all freight items are present when adding a consignment to a Run.

  • Tap the + button to add photos or events to all the selected tasks, without navigating from the bulk edit page. The number of items being actioned is indicated in the action button.

  • Add photos or complete any other required actions
  • Tap the action button to proceed to the next page, then Confirm.
  • Use the back button at the top of the bulk task to return to the Run page:
